The Living Air Classic air purifier by EcoQuest International now has a new name. It is called the Classic Air and is manufactured by a company called Vollara. Now Vollara is the new EcoQuest since EcoQuest has been purchased by Aerus Holding LLC out of Dallas Texas. This new company still sells most of the EcoQuest line of air purification systems although they have been renamed somewhat.

The Living Air Classic or Classic air will clean the air in your home up to 3,000 sq ft and make your house smell like it does after an thunderstorm. Remember how that smells? I used to stand at my front door when I was a kid in Arizona and smell the air coming through the screen door and loved that smell. It is a mixture of added ozone and ionized air and it smells great. It was nature's way of cleaning the air.

This is somewhat the kind of technology that is found in the Living Air Classic and this machine has been around for nearly 20 years. When the company was first founded by Bill Converse back in Minnesota he made a Living Air Classic type of machine and I'm not sure exactly when the unit was first manufactured in its present form and given the Classic name.

Whatever the history of this air purifier it will clean the air like you want it to be cleaned and get rid of odors, germs and smoke and give you a much more pleasant environment inside your home.

Should You Replace Your Living Air Classic With A Fresh Air?

Well, the air purifier question of the day sent in to me by a loyal reader is, "Hey Living Air Classic EcoQuest Guru, should I trade in my Classic for that new fangled Fresh Air by EcoQuest? It sure looks too cool!"

My answer is, yes and no.

Now for those totally confused hear me out. If your Living Air Classic has been dropped off of a 3 story building or higher or is more than 15 years old I would say yes by all means. I mean for real, if your Classic has fallen more than 30 feet onto the pavement, it's probably in several pieces and even with the team that restored the Sistine Chapel, putting it back together would surely exceed the cost of a Fresh Air.

On the other hand if you just bought your Living Air Classic a few years ago and just like the looks of the spiffy new Fresh Air, I'd say show a little restraint and save your money. Keep the Classic a few more years and take that vacation you've always wanted.

Maybe you'll get a Christmas bonus this year and then you can get a Fresh Air by EcoQuest.

All you need to do with the Classic is to remove the lint screen and pull out the purification plate, clean it and presto, you're done.

Another great use for your Living Air Classic by EcoQuest is to use it for deodorizing an area that might be, well, smelly.

Let's say your dog Fido has his own favorite blanket or pillow in one corner of the family room or in his own room. Sometimes the doggy smell can get a little pungent and even when you wash Fido's blanket or pillow you can still smell that doggy smell.

What's the solution?

If Fido has his own room so to speak, take your Living Air Classic into the room with the offending odor and point it at the source of the worst smell. Turn the purification and fan on high, close the door and let it run for 2 to 3 hours. In an open area do the same but run the Living Air Classic for 3 to 4 hours or more if need be.

You might want to leave the house for a few hours if you run the Classic in an open area because the purification process can be a bit strong smelling.

After that, you should have a nice clean smell in the area. You might need to repeat the process with your Living Air every couple of months depending on the conditions.

Cleaning your Living Air Classic by EcoQuest is simple and takes about 5 minutes. It is a much simpler operation than cleaning a Fresh Air purifier, which takes about 10 minutes.

All you need to do is remove the lint screen from the back of the Classic and remove the purification plate. You might want to vacuum out the inside of the unit just to remove any excess duct that might have accumulated in your air purifier.

After you remove the purifier plate from the Living Air Classic you will then need to spray it with Windex, scrub it with a tooth brush turn it at a 45 degree angle and scrub it again so you are cleaning the plate and the wire mesh on it in both directions. Turn the plate over and do the same thing to the other side and let it dry.

You should have received a second plate with your air purifier, take that plate and put it back in the Living Air Classic and you done for another month.

The Fresh Air by EcoQuest has a reminder on the LED screen that tells you when it needs to be cleaned but the Classic doesn't, so mark out 30 days on your calendar for the next cleaning.

The Living Air Classic is just one of the many different kinds of air purifiers offered by EcoQuest International.
